“Beautiful house great location” The owners were very accommodating and helpful. The house is in a lovely location and it is obvious that a lot of time, thought and money has been spent on it build and the equipment provided. Could certainly recommend this location and house.

“Perfect Highlands Retreat” My family of seven stayed at Coille Diobhain for four nights - wished we could have stayed longer! We loved sitting in the newly completed family room, which has enormous picture windows that look onto Ben Nevis. We watched the changing moods of the weather as clouds would roll in and out again. Stunning views of Ben Nevis when clear. The house is about a mile up a lane from the village of Roy Bridge (about 25-30 minute drive from Fort William), and is a nice balance between being near town and out in the country. We took several walks along the lane, and saw rabbits, foxes, and of course - sheep! If you cycle, this would be a wonderful place to bring your bikes, as the road/lane is lightly traveled and goes several miles into the countryside. The house was very clean and the beds comfortable. The welcome basket with goodies was an unexpected and lovely treat. Just Perfect!

About Fort William

Fort William is known as the ‘Outdoor Capital of the UK’ and with good reason. Here you can go fishing, skiing, snowboarding, hiking, biking and white water rafting – or even climb to the top of Ben Nevis, if you’re feeling energetic. The town is a centre for climbing and hillwalking, and lies at the start and end of the West Highland Way.

What To Do

If mountain climbing is your thing, then at 1,345m, Ben Nevis provides a healthy challenge, taking around eight hours to reach the top. If you fancy your outdoor activities slightly less perilous, then Vertical Descents outdoor activity centre near the town is the place to try your hand at almost any type of water sports. During the winter months, snow sports at the Nevis Range are a must, and there are four excellent golf courses in the area if you fancy a round.

For something a little more relaxing, why not hop on board the Jacobite Steam Train for a day trip with a difference? The train crosses the Glenfinnan Viaduct (made famous by the Harry Potter films) and stops off at Arisaig, home to one of the best beaches in the Highlands.

Amazing

We had an amazing week at spinnyfield with our 2 young children and our dog. All the tiny details made it a home from home . Everything you could ever need was already there and the owners had many toys which really helped make our stay so relaxing. After the 10hour drive the chocolate cake which met us when we arrived was a welcome arrival and it tasted amazing. Every day we woke up to various species of birds and a red squirrel right outside the window . We thought the cottage was perfectly situated to so many different walks and amminaties. There was a great range of booklets to give you ideas of things to do in the area . We found the area the house was situated so peaceful and relaxing and your not over looked . The garden was perfect , fully enclosed which gave us peace of mind and beautifully laid out . We enjoyed sitting on the decking in the evening listening to the wildlife and the stream near by. We hope to return in the future. … see more
Coille Diobhain
Beautiful place to stay

We loved Coille Diobhain! The house is fantastic, plenty of space and nicely decorated while very homely. Great views from the living room and from the grounds. Beautiful setting, very peaceful and tranquil but not too far from a main road and town (Fort William). A wonderful place to relax. The grounds include a very pretty wood at the front, a big grass area with a small pine wood at the back, through which you can get into the fields for a walk. We were particularly pleased to discover a football goal in the garden and a football to use. Other things we hadn't expected that were really useful - extra TVs in dining room and downstairs bedroom, OS maps of the local area, useful kitchen bits such as clingfilm, oil, salt etc. Lovely welcome pack with milk, biscuits and coffee. Towels were lovely, beds and bed linen comfy. (Worth noting though bring tea-towels and dishcloth) Nice clean property. We loved the area and had a brilliant day out at the Nevis Range, the gondolas (cable cars) are really worth doing - and lovely views and cafe at the top. There's no need to book online, no cheaper. There's a nice walk or two up there too. We enjoyed visiting the West Coast (Camusdarach beach beautiful), Glenfinnan viaduct (busy though!) and cycling the beautiful route along the Caledonian Canal from Fort Augustus (Ness E Bikes in Fort Augustus very helpful. We hired a mix of normal and electric assisted bikes - they were fantastic!) Enjoyed the view and a drink by Loch Ness in the garden of the Boathouse Lochside Restaurant. And of course worth a drive and walk along Glen Roy. Needed more time - lots to do and see. We found communication with Ruaridh very good, he was very helpful and quick to respond.
